Hope you've all been enjoying the summer during which there has been plenty of Dragon activity. In this update we have for your delight:

Uribe-Kudrin which introduces 9...h5!? to the Accelerated Dragadorf:











This is one Dragon expert who clearly has faith in it and this game shows why.

Ordian-Tiviakov which sees a debut on this site for delaying castles in the Yugoslav Attack in favour of 8...Be6:











Also in the offbeat department Gawain brings you Filippov-Dzhumaev in which Black tries 8...d5!?:











although ultimately comes up short.

He annotates two of his own games this month, one being Greet-Jones in which he gets to try out the 15...b4!? that has generated so much forum interest in the Kb1 and g4 line:











Staying with the 9 Bc4 Yugoslav Attack, a look at the latest standing of the Chinese variation is conducted in Venkatesh-Fontaine.

Then over to 9 0-0-0 and I personally remain surprised by White persevering with 10 Kb1 although on the face of it Smeets-Jones looks like a case of grabbing the exchange and not so much running as sauntering! Nevertheless Gawain points out several places that he might have improved so all is far from lost.
