Hi guys!
Well you heard of it on this site first, 'in theory', but now it's here in practice... the Accelerated Dragadorf!

Download PGN of February '07 Dragon Sicilian games

In the recent Gibraltar Masters I had two exciting encounters with it and young English soon-to-be-GM Gawain Jones had a game with it too. I suspect that Gawain was a little fortuitous to win but I was unlucky (well in my opinion) to only get 75%.

Don't take my word for it though, check out the exclusive annotations in Narayanyan - Ward and Cipak - Ward.

Elsewhere, thanks to a subscriber submission in the 9 0-0-0 Yugoslav Attack with 9...Nxd4 and ...Be6, some new hope has been brought to light:

James - Lobo: With some additional notes from GM Bogdan Lalic is a game that is nothing especially new but Zecevic - Feletar: rejuvenates the ...fxg6 option in the critical line of White going it alone with his h-pawn.

Yep this is a new (or at least rare) ideas feast this month as we also get to grips even more with the ....Na5!? concept against the 10 Bb3 Yugoslav. Meeting subtlety with subtlety!

See Jurkovic - Dvirnyy: not exactly a thriller itself but the notes are certainly food for thought.

Budimir - Solomunivic: Changing the topic, a Hyper-Accelerated Dragon that should act as a warning to Black players not to become complacent.

See you in March

Regards, Chris
