In the game Spanton-Tandrup, Black goes in the opening and is punished with a knockout blow.
Moskalenko-Sveshnikov shows Black fighting for the initiative in the main line and this eventually tips the games in his favour.
Shakhov-Zhukov shows White with a slight edge but managing to create strong tactical chances.
Novelty of the month
The novelty of the month is the intriguing game Purton-Williams from the recent Isle of Man tournament. Black takes on 2 Nc3, 3 Bb5 and plays a fourth move that has hardly been considered by the books. It works well and wins after just 27 moves.
Please keep sending your e-mails and I welcome games by subscribers.
