AS139: The Veresov that thinks it's a Barry Attack White combines the best of the Veresov with the best of the Barry attack to overwhelm his confused opponent.

AS141 When Black goes for a solid formation based on ...c6 and ...d5 followed by ...Bg4 I strongly advise you to go for an early c4 if you want to fight for the advantage. Here White gets away with murder when he ignores this tip.

AS142 For some players the prospect of a White bishop on d3 pointing at their king is so frightening they opt to blunt it with an early ...g6. However, the combination of ...e6 and ...g6 does not sit happily for Black...

AS144 Black tries to set up the solid Semi-Slav defence in the following slaughter but such an approach is simply too slow against the Colle.

AS145 My thanks to Gordon Evans for this offering which sees White dominate his opponent convincingly in one of the main lines.

AS140: The QGA reversed option When Black combats the d-pawn specials with an early ...c5, then very often the last thing he is expecting is for you to take. Although Black should be ok in the resulting positions he has to keep his guard up.

Trompowsky

AS136 One thing is for certain. Black has to be very sure of himself in the 2...c5 lines. The White position is very solid and Black has weaknesses on the kingside and sometimes the queenside to take aim at. Black has to be careful not to be despatched in short order.

Pseudo-Trompowsky

AS137 When Black plays unambitiously against the Tromp one of his best tries is the super sound ...d5/...Nf6 combo. His slight structural weaknesses can be hard to break down. White is well advised to take his time and try to outmanoeuvre his opponent slowly.

AS138 It is not often you see a queen completely trapped in the middle of the board and about to be chopped off. Black pays the price for some greedy pawn guzzling.

Stonewall

AS143 You don't usually see White taking the battle to Black on the queenside in the Stonewall, but here he does it to perfection.
